Ours: Refi'd our jumbo loan with zero cost @ 4.0% Great experience again with Cashcall. (btw I am in no way affiliated with them). Installed solar panels with tax incentives - our last bill was $1.06 Cancelled cable -TimeWarner and got over the air local channels via cable for $1 and Netflix/Amazon Prime via Roku. Saving $40-$50 per month. Changed our auto insurance to progressive and saved $400. |
1. Bought a House with 40% down and 3.25% interest rate (definitely beats renting!) This also lowered my car insurance more than I am paying in homeowners. 2. Also ditched cable. I save at least $40 per month by going with Netflix and watch a lot of shows (the next day) online. 3. When my car died, I paid cash for a used car that had 45K miles. The car is not fancy, but it was quite the upgrade and a bargain. 4.(Maybe should be #1) - Started following the topics here and have picked up some great advice (only been a member 2 months). Did not realize the potential for *easy* money that is out there if you look for it. |
1) Stayed with the job I can barely stand. Today's pay stub shows $1.1 Mil for the year. Future years are a very different story. 2) set up vanguard account to trade ETFs without commission, and waited for market to drop. 3) used #2 to buy dividend ETF using limit orders when the market dropped in Aug, Sep, and Nov. Already up 10%, and the 0.9% dividend for the quarter just arrived (it pays 4x that annualized). |
